Akeem Ajimotokan, a thirty-three year old lawyer who had been working in Columbia’s office of procurement, was found by the police last Wednesday morning, “tied up and unconscious in the trunk of his car” (NYT) after attempting to sell it on the Internet. He had been stabbed and brutally beaten. (WSJ)

The car was found crashed on the Upper West Side. There is one suspect, who has not yet been arrested (DNAinfo). Robert Hornsby, a spokesman at Columbia, said to the Times that the university does not comment on NYPD investigations. As of yesterday the victim was confirmed to be in a stable condition. (Spec)

The story has attracted a lot of attention from local media over the past few days. We would simply like to extend our condolences to Akeem’s family and friends and wish him a speedy recovery.
