We’ve got some (potentially) sad news, folks. Hawkma’s reign over freshmen, upperclassmen, and faculty alike may have come to an end in the wee hours of the night. Though we can’t say for sure whether this is merely a Hawkmimposter, the slain bird does seem to resemble our robust, bloodthirsty friend.
Tipster Ze’ev Gebler sent in the following photo, and it doesn’t look good:
Rest in peace, sweet prince.

@Courtney Sad to see this! But look at that wing shape, mustache stripe, and gorgeous black and white mottling – it’s definitely not a dead red-tail. Looks like a dead peregrine (Nathaniel?) to me. Perhaps an unlucky juvy out of the nest on Riverside Church?
@Can we get a Hawkma origin story post? I mean Hawkma even predates the ’12ers. What are we without our history
@RIP RIP Hawkmadinejad
@Anonymous Sad news: another beautiful NYC hawk is dead, and in such a tragic-looking way.
The good news, I suppose, is that this is almost definitely a juvenile hawk that just fledged–note the absence of red tail.
Still not something to be happy about, however. Perhaps it was one of Hawkma’s babies.
@Anonymous lol nerd
@Anonymous Yeah, well without bird nerds like us you wouldn’t HAVE Hawkma. But you’re probably too young to remember that anyway.
@Anonymous ^lol GS student.
@But wait! Another one’s been born, but at nyu of all places.

@Rage Goddess, sing the rage of Columbia’s son Hawkma,
murderous, doomed, that cost the pigeons countless losses,
hurling down to the House of Death so many sturdy squirrels,
great feisty squirrels, but made their bodies carrion,
feasts for lesser birds and John Jay Dining Hall,
and the will of PrezBo was moving toward its end.
Begin, Muse, when the two first broke and clashed,
Facilities lord of bureaucracy and brilliant Hawkma.
@I I can’t
@Anonymous Methinks it was a first-year hawk who didn’t receive his housing assignment yet.
@I want to bury him by hand without magic.
@Our Beloved Hawkma To the Tune of General Taylor by Great Big Sea
Well Our Beloved Hawkma he gained the air
Walk him along, CUMB, Carry him along
Well Our Beloved Hawkma he gained the air
Carry him to his bury’n ground
[Chorus:]
Tell me way, hey, strong birdie
Walk him along, CUMB, Carry him along
Tell me way, hey, strong birdie
Carry him to his bury’n ground
We’ll dig his grave with our own bare hands
Walk him along, CUMB, Carry him along
His shroud of the finest silk will be made
Carry him to his bury’n ground
[Chorus]
We’ll lower him down on a golden chain
Walk him along, CUMB, Carry him along
On every inch we’ll carve his name
Carry him to his bury’n ground
[Chorus]
Our Beloved Hawkma he’s all the go
Walk him along, CUMB, Carry him along
He’s gone where the stormy winds won’t blow
Carry him to his bury’n ground
[Chorus]
We’ll pour out the last of our 4loko
Walk him along, CUMB, Carry him along
Every last drop we owe to him
Carry him to his bury’n ground
[Chorus]
Our Beloved Hawkma he’s dead and he’s gone
Walk him along, CUMB, Carry him along
Our Beloved Hawkma he’s long dead and gone
Carry him to his bury’n ground
[Chorus 2x]

@I expect a statement from prezbo, comfort us beloved leader.
@The Columbia Admins did this. The wanted to kill the one thing that brought hope and strength to us. In front of NOCO, there is a garden that is barren, I declare that we bury him there.
@'15 What’s the big deal, its just a bird. And the administration has been helpful when me or my mom calls.
@Anonymous …why is your mom calling for you?
@Anonymous EVEN IF YOU ARE A TROLL HOW COULD YOU SAY SOMETHING SO TERRIBLE
@Anonymous baha, get a joke much?
@WHAT? I’ve lost the will to live.
