The Columbia Admission staff gathered at 3 pm on College Walk today to send out their decisions to Early Decision applicants. It was a cheerful event, with a quick “Roar, Lion, Roar” performed by the hard-working people who got us all into this place.
Decisions come out online at 5 P.M. Eastern time today.
Good luck to all applicants and welcome class of 2017!
Statement from Jessica Marinaccio, Dean of Undergraduate Admissions and Financial Aid:
“We are excited to notify the first members of Columbia’s Class of 2017 of their admission today. All of these amazing students have worked so hard to get to this point in their lives and tonight they will find out that they were admitted to their first-choice school.
“It was not easy choosing these talented students from our pool of 3,126 Early Decision applications, but, as in past years, we were won over by these students’ extraordinary academic and extracurricular achievements, by their creativity and individual passions, and by their remarkable dedication and commitment to everything they do. These new Columbians hail from across the country and the world, and each student admitted to the Columbia Class of 2017 has a unique voice and story that we believe will contribute to the exciting conversations on campus and make a difference within our diverse intellectual community.
“My staff and I feel lucky that these students chose to apply to Columbia and we can’t wait to see them on campus next year.”

@Anonymous Remember when you wanted to go here more than anything in the world? When you thought that once you got in you were set for life? It’s not that I don’t feel that any way any more, it’s just that it’s easy to forget this time of year what it feels like to be filled with complete and all-consuming happiness. Welcome 2017, never forget how you feel in this moment.
@Anonymous There are moments you wait for and dream of all your life. This is one of those moments.
