We just received a tip regarding Israeli Apartheid Week – more specifically, regarding recent vandalism of the posters advertising this week’s events. IAW starts this Monday and runs from February 29th to March 4th.
We have also attached close up images below that show the writing on each section of torn poster. Messages include, “I LOVE Israel!” and, “BDS is Jew Hatred! You will never win! Israel is the Jewish homeland!”
Update: This incident happened at 3:30pm today in Butler lounge.
If you have any additional information about this incident, please send it to tips@bwog.com.

@Anonymous No matter your views, tearing down a flyer because it upsets you is petty and childish
@Jafar It was AEPi. They’re mad they don’t control the media any more.
@Hershy BDS is not anti-semitic, nor is criticism of the Israeli state, but accusations that Jews control the media are.
@Anonymous Tell me, where does impersonating someone you don’t like, or don’t respect, on the basis of his having been outspoken in media about these issues fall on the spectrum you’re trying to set up?
@My goodness Look, don’t deface their signs. Talk with them. Engage with them. I understand your frustration. Trust me. Just tell them why you disagree with their point of view. For example, I would say, “it isn’t civil discourse to call me an oppressor. why are you doing that? I’m curious?” Rather than writing things that will provoke them further. I would be lying if I told you I haven’t taken down a sign or two in my day, but I would never leave a comment.
@Anonymous you should hear how much CUAD and its affiliates like dialogue. or rather how they write it off before they even get the chance to speak to someone.
@Hershy Have you attended any of the Q&A sessions they’ve hosted after events? Or the teach-ins that are entirely based on conversations between attendees?
@Anonymous I don’t feel comfortable with people who try to legitimize bus bombings as “legitimate resistance.” Or is safe space rhetoric privileged to activists types alone?
@Anonymous Free speech is gone. People now only want to hear their point of view and will harass everyone else for thinking differently.
@Anonymous How childish ! Vandalizing posters doesn’t solve anything.
@Roody Lol
@James Why wouldn’t the vandals just take down the flyer altogether? Why would they rip it and reattach it to the bulletin? It seems one of the organizers did this to frame Israel supporters…
@Anonymous It is interesting that “ISRAELI APARTHEID” is in tact and in the center. And that it happened just as their week of events is due to begin….
@c'mon …and yet there was no coverage whatsoever when Birthright Israel (a less politically charged thing to advertise than Israeli Apartheid Week) posters were torn down and vandalized in Carman. Thanks for the neutrality, Bwog!!
@Emile Zola the down votes on this comment are so telling.
@Alum I’m 99% sure this was a false flag done by SJP, the Divest group, or its affiliates. The exact same thing happened last year and caused a real kerfuffle.
If they can’t prove that certain individuals did it (video cameras, etc), it’s a non-story either way.
@You know who did it Classic Fiji
@curious cause fiji are vandal assholes, or cause fiji are militant zionists, or..?
@uninvolved when this happened to the billboard in carmen and transphobic assholes defaced it, the school did basically nothing to stop them. That wasnt even contextualized within a political debate with nuanced identities on either side, it was just tearing apart a community building affirmation thing in a dorm.
Then again, if i saw a pro-life poster i would prolly tear it down without thinking about it. i guess some students feel similarly
@wake up sheeple Because tearing down posters is totally ok when I do it, I’m on the right side of all these issues! Why you ask? Because I’m on the right side of all these issues!
I respectfully question your level of understanding and thoughtfulness.
@J Everyome knows SJP plays a dirty game. They’ll tear down pro-Israel flyers themselves and whine about silencing when it happens to them. This is a disingenuous stunt by a group that will do absolutely anything to smear everyone and anyone pro-Israel. So many thanks to Bwog for having sunk to the level of being their mouthpiece. Bwog used to be good.
@way too breathless bwog’s tone throughout this latest anti-israel campaign has persistently been WAYYYYY too excited and credulous, reporting everything the anti-israel students of SJP and JVP ask them to report, exactly the way they want it reported. where is the neutrality? where is the responsible journalism? honestly, where is the snark?
@is this news? it may be overkill to use all-caps BREAKING in the headline
@Cynical Not gonna lie, I’m highly suspicious this was done by somebody in SJP, JVP, or CUAD to garner sympathy…
@anon the converse often happens to aryeh’s signs as well. judging by multiple calls from aryeh to not tear down signs, i would not conflate this with the general pro-israel community
@where did this vandalism take place?
@butler cause thats where people are most sad
