@wtf “Biennial” isn’t a pretentious word — that is, it’s not some impressive word, some badge of honor or intelligence, to know what it means and use it correctly — *so* using it incorrectly due to ignorance isn’t being pretentious. It’s just making a fool of yourself.

@yes but at columbia, pretension is a measure of coolness.
@why columbia students are cool we may not know what they mean, but we throw around words like “biennial” anyway.

@arbiter of pretentiousness i agree. not every kind of stupidity deserves to be called “pretentious.” only the best kind.
