Page Six is reporting that Elton John will be celebrating his 60th birthday party this evening with cocktails, dinner, and dancing just down the street at the cathedral of St. John the Divine. The guest list of 300 will probably include more star power than Columbia’s seen since the Dalai Lama.
Awesome. But does anyone else find this a little…arrogant? I mean, who has their birthday in a house of worship? Especially someone who wants to “ban religion completely“?
Jesus.

@Chris Johnson That’s a good point. And not just what’s wrong with Elton – what’s wrong with the Cathedral?
I guess mammon-worship comes first.
@bwog you missed out. they must not have been allowed to close the church for the day, because you were free to walk around mid set up this morning. it was, well, extremely extravagant. HUGE screen, tables covered in silver and crystal, orchids and cherry blossms EVERYWHERE, and a rock band set near the altar. and they weren’t objecting to taking pictures of “the architecture”

Too bad I’m probably going to hell anyway.
@ummm I bet Jesus would have his birthday in a house of worship. It’d be like me having mine in a Chuck E. Cheese.
‘Where a savior can be a savior.’
@frumph Hahahah. Awesome motto.
