@yeah thank you bwog. I thought I was alone in my rage, but there are others out there. it’s ridic, and for some reason, the leggings just make me angry.
@Fashionista What I don’t understand is that that is a very nice knife pleated wool skirt from Banana Republic (or very similar to one that I eyed there last season). It is the kind of skirt one pairs with heels and a nice top (perhaps a cashmere turtleneck) on a crisp fall day. It is not the kind of skirt to wear in this weather, with flip flops, or with leggings.
I like leggings… They serve their purpose. They keep legs warm. They are even a cute fashion statement when paired with a-line dresses, micro minis, tunics (etc.). I can understand why people pair them with jean skirts or any other skirt above the knee. I do… I wouldn’t always do it (leggings with the jean miniskirt? *shudder*), but it’s really awkward to wear them with a NICE, NOT CASUAL AT ALL knee length skirt.
But mostly, I’m jealous of the skirt.
PS, #2, I totally agree, I love wearing leggings in the wintertime, but they’re LONG leggings… they cover my calves and generally end with big fluffy socks and boots of some sort. But, this person is obviously not trying to keep warm considering it is a balmy, sunny 75 degrees and she is wearing capri leggings with flipflops!

@arf the truth is, i have chunky legs, and as a favor to the rest of the world i cover my lards with leggings before wearing a short skirt.
although when the skirt is already below the knee it’s kind of pushing it.
but i think the bigger issue is when people fail to put on any real pants or a skirt at all and just wear the leggings. eek.
@ALS That skirt isn’t Banana Repubs – it’s Isaac Mizrahi for Target. Is it pathetic that I know that?
@Sadia I wear maternity clothing because I have a fat tummy. Period. And that’s what it’s all about.
Also, #21, I was thinking the same thing. A qualitative look at the staff…
@what makes bwog so qualified for giving fashion advice.
fuck.
that.
(even if tights and skirts are heinous)
@yeah agreed.
@CML By the way, Zenilman, I have to say that the rest of your fashion advice was spot-on. Toda raba, ach.
@Avi I think girls should generally wear pants.
@CML Apostasy.

@at least it’s not a white maternity dress like all the girl in LES wear these days
@well i for one prefer parachute pants
@i don't understand why you guys wear skirts in the winter, period?
@because there exist some really cute wool skirts.
Also the maternity-cut craze is weirder than the leggings thing, I think. What, we’re not supposed to show waist now?
@Sadia Black leggings under skirts – so crucial in the wintertime.
Black leggings under skirts – so crucial for Muslims/Jews who want to be fashionable without “breaking the rules,” so to speak.
Just sayin’.
@uhh “but leggings are really, really helpful in the wintertime when it’s freezing outside and tights just don’t cut it.”
IT’S SEPTEMBER 4TH
@jbxxx so don’t wear a skirt in the wintertime.
@now this is why i read bwog.
@yep what’s weird is that those leggings are only about an inch longer than the skirt, so what’s the point?
@duh She’s wearing them so that you can’t see her panties should the wind blow her skirt up.

@i guess i understand but leggings are really, really helpful in the wintertime when it’s freezing outside and tights just don’t cut it.
@but seriously, take off the skirt and show it off
da BUTT
@yes, please do not stop wearing tights, girls. we thank you.
