Sundial Vigil for Gaza

Written by

Happening right now, a vigil at the sundial for the people of Gaza. About ten students are currently gathered with candles wrapped in tinfoil at the Students for Justice in the Middle East and Arab Student Association-sponsored event.

“We’re trying to show solidarity with the people of Gaza,” said Jake Matilsky, GS ’09 and member of Students for Justice in the Middle East. Matilsky characterized the event as dealing with a “humanitarian issue,” explaining that “when children can’t get food that’s all of our responsibility.”

The vigil is expected to last for at least another half an hour.

i'm not sure why it was deleted... it isn't offensive... sure, it's off-topic, but since when does bwog delete comments that are off-topic?

  3. promotional?

Strange description. XKCD is not a commercial website. If the commenter had a better sense of timing, though, they would have waited until a flame war had begun.

The vigil got a little bigger around 8. Maybe 20, 25 people.

so it would have been OK had i just linked to the image itself rather than the web page? for example:
