If you smell the sweet smell of community wafting off Low Plaza this evening, don’t be alarmed: it’s only Night Market, the Chinese Student Club’s annual outdoor mega-mixer. Always one of the most popular fall events on campus, Night Market unites many of Columbia’s finest ethnic-food-toting, prop-slinging, limb-flailing clubs for a night of performances and general merrymaking.
This year’s event is themed “Make Love Not War” and will, as always, showcase a wide variety of student performance groups; there will also be a guest appearance by the troupe FR3SH (featured on America’s Best Dance Crew, Season 4), the traditional Presidential Pie-Toss in which student club members revolt against their leaders in the style of classic physical comedy, and delicious ethnic specialties to boot. Night Market 2009 will take place tonight from 6pm-9pm on Low Plaza.
