Relay For Life

Blue Gym, Dodge

We invite you to come join us at Columbia University’s 7th annual Relay For Life! This year’s event, in the Blue Gym at Dodge, promises to have incredible performances, great atmosphere, and huge success at raising money for the American Cancer Society. Sign up to participate by joining an existing team or creating a new one here! — The past fiscal year has been tough on many industries, but the work of nonprofits like the American Cancer Society was hit the hardest. In an effort to cope with new budgetary constraints and still provide the best quality services to New Yorkers and people around the globe, Columbia’s Relay For Life has been moved indoors. It’s an opportunity to give a much-beloved campus event a facelift and to remind participants about the mission of our work: making a contribution to the fight against cancer. With the hard work from all members of the committee, Colleges Against Cancer was able to find a more than ample space, one that will allow this Relay For Life to have something it’s never had before–an actual track for the walk-a-thon. The new space requires new hours, so this year will be the first year that Columbia’s Relay For Life will be a 12 hour event (instead of 15), and spanning from 10am to 10pm (instead of from noon until 3am). The space will still play host to all your favorite Relay events: the Miss Relay drag pageant, the Relay Idol lip-sync, the great performers, the races, the on-site fundraising, and even the luminaria ceremony. We are excited to show you all of the new ideas that we have in store! The most important modification to the event is that anyone who does not have access permission to Dodge Gym MUST register for Relay For Life at least 24 hours in advance of the event. Otherwise, it’s still the same all-day party that people know and love! — Questions? Comments? Direct them to our PR chair, Lisa Lewis, at [email protected] Want to speak with our ACS staff partner?
