Forgetting about all this bullshit regarding the nature of the wrestling outfit/word itself, the funny part of the Anderson Cooper costume is how…well…flamboyant and gay it is. The whole joke worked for me simply for that alone. Seeing the Silver Fox dressed like that is funny if you know about the “glass closet” he lives in and, to be honest, it seems like a one-liner that I would have totally laughed at drunk on Sunday night. It’s objectively the most original costume in this group of candidates. Clearly some of the people in the other costumes are flagging down crap like dumb asses bc they’re petty but, word to you guys- THE COMMENTS WERE STILL WRITTEN!!!

@Anonymous true the guy “slightly” resembles anderson cooper but you don’t go around during halloween in your costume with a large CAPTION written on your head. thus, without a caption, which is the basis on which these costumes should be judged by, the anderson cooper look sucks
@.... I don’t see a caption on his head, just a CNN logo on his chest– which is more than enough for me to immediately infer what he’s going for, and mainly because of his very clever use of makeup more than any natural physical resemblance. I’d call it an SNL quality costume.
@Anonymous you’ve clearly missed the point. the connection is the CNN AND wrestling suit, hence the caption “AC wrestling with his sexuality.” without the caption there is little to no chance of getting that. anderson cooper is only half of the costume. thus, by itself it just doesn’t make nearly as good of a costume.

Yeah, I understand that he’s “wrestling with his sexuality…” The real Anderson Cooper doesn’t exactly go on TV wearing glow in the dark neon green bike shorts and a tank top, and if this guy wanted to simply dress as Anderson Cooper, there were other wardrobe choices available. Both of the implications of the costume are very easy to see, and realizing one of them makes you realize the other sooner.
@Anonymous or you could’ve just as easily said, “wow, there is an anderson cooper look alike, but i really wonder what the heck he’s doing wearing wrestling tights….” i think this thought is far more likely than making the connection spelled out in the caption above. i might just be totally underestimating people’s capacity to make that connection, but i’m pretty sure late night, binge drinking and high levels of inebriation will certainly lead to that effect. your logic just fails
@.... I think that you’re thinking about this either too much or too little. It’s not the particular use of the word “wrestling” in the caption title that is immediately apparent from the visual– one wouldn’t necessarily guess the phrase– but the implication. That outfit is pretty suggestive.

@anderson cooper is the only truly original and hilarious one, the others are great, but cooper is a true work of art. It looks nothing like cooper on TV, but once you hear the description it falls into place and the caricature is more accurate than reality.
