This strange crate-box-plywood container sat on the Mudd 8 with an onerous warning affixed: DANGER ASBESTOS. Just, like, hold your breath or something while you walk by.
Isn’t asbestos bad for you? And didn’t scientists figure that out? Let’s just hope they’re talking about asbestos removal. Once this thing is out of the hallway we can all breathe a sigh of relief.

@sanjeev jha It is always better to cover asbestos then riping them out. This step is recommended by EPA.Please check http://www.asbestosfloortiles.net for more details.
@Travis Michael The boarding up looks as though this is part of asbestos removal. Asbestos has been linked to lung cancer, mesothelioma and many other respiratory diseases. It is most likely being removed to protect students, faculty and staff from these dangers. Regards, TM http://www.mesorc.com/
@Anonymous I’ve never been in Mudd. I feel like it is the most mysterious building on campus.
@The sixth floor of Altschul Hall (Barnard’s campus) is completely closed off for renovation. The signs in the elevators just say that it’s closed, but if you walk past the door to the sixth floor in the stairwell, the sign mentions danger asbestos.
@Anonymous My guess? Removal of asbestos floor tiles.
@Anonymous Oh, and they’re not a danger — unless they get damaged and the fibers become airborne.

@Hmm . . . This looks like a ploy concocted by CC students to take down SEAS. Well then if it is war you want, it’s war you will get!
