Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Columbia University Print Services is offering students discounts on the perfect gift: business cards! Apparently it’s the thing to do “in this economy” – see press release below:
Columbia University Print Services Introduces Reduced Pricing for Student Business Cards
New York (February 1, 2011) – Columbia University Print Services is happy to announce reduced pricing of student business cards by almost 50%, effective January 1st, 2011. An order of 250 cards now costs only $30 plus tax, lowered from the initial price of $58. Orders for 500 cards have also been reduced from $55 to just $45.
In this economy, it’s imperative that students stand out when applying for jobs and meeting employers at networking events. A well-designed business card can be one of the most valuable tools used to distinguish yourself from the competition. Student business cards are very high quality, printed on the same paper and using the same color as Columbia University faculty and staff cards.
All part- and full-time students of Columbia University are eligible to order cards using the standard Columbia University student business card template. This includes students at Teachers College, Union Theological Seminary, Barnard College, School of Social Work, Lamont-Doherty and Columbia University Medical Center. Columbia Law School and Columbia Journalism School students can order using their school’s official student business card template.
Due to payment restrictions and identification requirements, student business cards must be ordered in person at one of our two locations: Room 106 Journalism or Room 401 School of International Affairs, between the hours of 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday — Friday. Payments can be made using cash, check, FLEX or credit card. Those who are unable to come in person during business hours should contact printing@columbia.edu to request special accommodations for an additional fee.
Student business cards take only 6-8 business days to produce and students will receive an email when their cards are ready. Cards are available for pickup at Room 106 Journalism between the hours of 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday.

@ugh I have encountered far too sleazy guys (still students, mind you) who give out business cards in purely social situations. Please stop.
@Anonymous Why were 250 cards more expensive than 500 before? This economy indeed.
@Just Use VistaPrint So much cheaper.
