@Anonymous I said it once and I’ll say it again: Jazz and the Literary Imagination is amazing. You sit around listening to jazz and reading liner notes every class and then write papers on such strange topics as Louis Armstrong’s laxative diet. Plus Brent Edwards has the smoothest voice.
@science credit for non-science person? suggestions?
@Anonymous “Mind, Brain, and Behavior” or “Science of Psych”are both good options. I would stay away from earth science or astronomy classes…not as easy as you might think. But in general, remember that science majors have to take waaaay more non-science classes for the core than you need to take of science or math courses. So enjoy your brief foray!!

@Anonymous Does anyone know if its that bad taking orgo and bio c2005. Is phys and bio a better choice. Do biochem majos often take orgo and bio?
@Biochem Major I did physics/bio. I would recommend doing it that way. Orgo is conceptually the hardest of the three and bio requires the most memorization, so I would imagine doing them both at the same time (in addition to other classes) would be difficult. Also, this might vary from section to section, but it seems to me that the orgo/bio exams occur around the same time.
@Also a Biochem Major I did Orgo and bio. It is a little bit difficult, but I think it is lightened by the fact that a lot of things you learn in Orgo relate to the things you learn in Bio, and vice versa. I found Bio and Orgo to both be about 50/50 in problem solving and memorization. Also, taking Orgo is a prereq for many of the biochemistry classes you need to take (i.e. Biochem and molecular bio) if you are worried about fitting them into your schedule. Finally you have to take P-chem senior year (presumably), and it might be useful to have taken physics right before. I know a lot of biochem majors often take orgo and bio, to answer your question.
@Don't do it I started physics/bio and had to just drop down to bio. My personal opinion is to leave bio as its own separate entity. Yeah it sucks having two hard sciences for two semesters but my sanity is intact. I would disagree with bio being more memorization and orgo being more conceptual. Bio is, for the most part, conceptual. She’s tricky, and tricky = conceptual. Orgo two is straight up memorization.
@Biochem #3 If you’re just a pre-med I wouldn’t, but I’m a biochem major and, as stated above, I’m doing it this way to get pre-reqs for Biochem out of the way earlier. B+ bio and A- orgo first semester, and so far I’m on track to get the reverse this semester. As for orgo, I like Doubleday as a teacher, but there are WAY too many post-bacs for the curve to be friendly.
