Kind of on the fence about lending a hand to your fellow man? Columbia Community Outreach wonders—would it help if you got a free tee-shirt? No? Uh… how about a pair of sunglasses? Free breakfast? Free pizza, you say? Done.
CCO’s promo vid misses the mark—after all, nothing says, “I’m an altruist,” like a video with posing Greek organizations repeating, “And we are CCO!” and a signature Artopolis crepe to boot. They even boldly made fun of New Jersey. Could have been worse, though. So, whether you’re in it for the swag or the after(Garden)party at PrezBo’s place, sign up for this year’s CCO.

@Anonymous The main purpose of CCO is to get student to come out and get them excited to do something good for the community. There is a community service fair at the end of the day in which students can sign up for long-term service opportunities on campus.
This video is certainly cheesy and is not a mind-blowing performance. The students seemed to be just trying to make people aware of CCO so that they would register. Given that these kids are just trying to promote service on campus and make it better, these comments and the video seems a little harsh. What’s the point of ruthlessly attacking people that are just trying to do something good?
@YOU LET THE BALLOONS GO CCO kills sea turtles.
@cmon guys.. stop hating! Jeez. I just saw the video (convinced that it would be complete BS based on the comments) and it was actually pretty cute.
@Anonymous This post and the links are misleading. Both are great groups, but COO and Community Impact are certainly not the same organization.
@Anonymous *CCO
sincerest apologies!!!
@GO KARLA LOVE YOU GIRL
-YOU KNOW WHO IT IS
@Anonymous i really liked the acting
@Anonymous Right but spending thousands of dollars on tshirts and sunglasses to say “hey, I woke up early one Saturday in the spring” kinda defeats the purpose of community service…… If you want to do one time service, that’s fine. I just wish we as CU students could have some constructive dialogue on what it means to serve.
@Agreed. How about we take all the money spent on things to entice people to volunteer one day out of the year and put it toward something that will actually have a lasting, meaningful impact.
@Anonymous IM GONNA JOIN CCO BECAUSE I GET A FREE SLICE OF PIZZA AND A FREE SHIRT AND A FREE BAGEL LOL
@Anonymous This video made me want to vomit. Remove it. I don’t know much about what CCO does (before seeing this video), but let’s just say that my impression of CCO has been polluted. PR disaster. Facepalm. Who the hell came up with this idea? Way to promote…
@my single my single is dropping is droppin Constructive criticism? Trash this, hire Angie as director.
@Anonymous a little harsh, bwog?
They’re trying to do community service and get hundreds of volunteers excited… all you can do is make fun of the video?
@Anonymous they posted the link, didn’t they?
@Anonymous or you could help people for more than one day and do a Community Impact program. too bad there’s no shirt or dumb video
@Anonymous Yeah I honestly don’t get the whole CCO thing – if you actually want to make a difference, help your surrounding community, and/or feel good about yourself, you might want to volunteer more than one day a year through Community Impact, NY Cares, or some other organization that does year round service.
@Anonymous i think the point of cco is to introduce students (and their friends, teammates, etc.) to service, who wouldn’t normally be involved in any of those other clubs – right?
@Anonymous this video is terrible. but the people are great.
@Hmmm... I agree with the the first part of your statement.
@Anonymous holy shit. lol I’m all for helping people, but maybe they could spend a little less money on stupid shit and more on those who need it (read: not Ivy League students who will just throw the shirts in the back of their closets…)
@SEAS '12 Who or what cause are you helping by calling this video “pretty bad?”
Constructive criticism might help… or maybe you can just get pumped about an awesome event…
@Anonymous are you kidding? Can you not watch that video and instantly identify a dozen things wrong with it?
That video is beyond constructive criticism.
@SEAS '12 I’m sorry that you’re a bitter troll.
Go to Alice, talk to SWP, and get a stressbusters massage. Maybe any of those will help with your piss-poor attitude.
@Anonymous speaking of constructive criticism…
@Anonymous Get back to your problem sets
@jesus i hate this.
@God This is so lame.
@..aaaaaaand the worst thing since Rebecca Black.
