Bwog is here to keep you up-to-date on campus events, but we’re also here to let you know when there’s danger in the community. Late last night, there was an incident of “forcible touching” (someone being grabbed) near W.115 St and Riverside Drive. Read on for the full security dispatch, and please be safe!

@This guy is one of those coked-out derelicts that hangs around outside West Side. Public Safety, please do your job and get the bums off Broadway. They are a danger to the entire community and belong nowhere near campus.
@Anonymous Coked-out? Didn’t realize people were giving these “derelicts” so much money…
@Tinkerbell Yeah man, it’s a real epidemic. Designer drugs run rampant in NYC’s homeless community. Don’t get me started on what ends up happening to us, their poor designer handbag puppies. Woof!
@The Honourably Based FILGB Public safety’s job is to protect the Columbia Campus and students, not to actively pursue “coked-out derelicts” (which seems to imply that he’s both rich and a house) on city streets. That’s the NYPD’s job. Learn a bit about jurisdictions.
@Anonymous Classic example of missing the point. Giving these homeless psychos the benefit of the doubt is absolutely ridiculous. This is the same attitude displayed by those who apologize for radical Islamist militants or call serial killers “misunderstood.” Grow up. I know the notion of personal responsibility is all but gone from our great society, but to defend these deranged individuals is just ridiculous. Secondly, when speaking about jurisdiction, Public Safety has none. They are glorified mall cops who probably failed their TSA entrance exams. Their main “purpose” is to assist the NYPD in keeping Columbia students safe. The bums are a threat to the safety of Columbia students. Therefore, the bums should be dealt with (mainly by reporting panhandlers to the NYPD as Public Safety never actually does anything other than call the NYPD). Get it? I’m And for those of you trolling about the term “coked-out,” “cracked-up” just sounded awkward.
@Check yourself before you wreck yourself.

Discussion of feminism ensues. Which then leads to a discussion about Barnard. It’s not even part of Columbia so why do they list “Columbia” in their networks on Facebook? Cue fiery comment war between “BC 2013” and “CC 14” .

Comment: “Every single perpetrator in the Public Safety Announcements has been black or hispanic”
reply: RACISM
Discussion of crime statistics and race ensues. Followed by discussion of Affirmative Action. Followed by discussion of athletes, legacy students and professors children being unfairly favored in the admissions process.
