A people’s proper demonym should never have to be qualified by a slur, and to legitimize the slur by placing it in that context is just not cool.
@ummm the Telegraph article says they’re represented by an authority called the Britain’s Gypsy Council. i hardly think it can qualify as a slur then…

The problem is that the term “gypsy” is so widely-used, and so much more so than the less pejorative names for these peoples, that many Romani & Travellers have opted instead to reclaim the term.
