A people’s proper demonym should never have to be qualified by a slur, and to legitimize the slur by placing it in that context is just not cool.
@ummm the Telegraph article says they’re represented by an authority called the Britain’s Gypsy Council. i hardly think it can qualify as a slur then…

The problem is that the term “gypsy” is so widely-used, and so much more so than the less pejorative names for these peoples, that many Romani & Travellers have opted instead to reclaim the term.

@Ummm Given Britain’s penchant for antisemitism and racism in general this doesn’t surprise the general public, however, just because they’re “represented by an authority called the Britain’s Gypsy Council” doesn’t make it ok. Sheep.
