One of Columbia’s newest musical groups, LyricLion, is heading  to their first performance outside of Morningside Heights. this Thursday night at 11:30 pm. LyricLion, the brainchild of seven musicians from Columbia and Julliard, takes the compositions of student singer-songwriters and arranges them for LyricLion’s unique assortment of instruments. The chamber group is comprised of Caroline Sonett (flute), Cynthia Jung (bassoon), Joe Betts (french horn), Elizabeth Sun & Joy Pai (violins), Corinna Boylan & Gregory Barber (cellos), and Solomon Hoffman (Conductor/Arranger). They bring life to these pieces beyond what the timbre of voice and a guitar could do alone.

This performance will feature compositions by performances and songs by Sarah Dooley, Sally Eidman, Olivia Harris, Kailey Marshall, Katy Rea, Taylor Simone, David Alan Thorton, Niko Tsakalatos and Zack Zadek. Plus songs from new musicals by Aaron Albert/Katy Rea, Solomon Hoffman/Nick Parker, Ryan Scott Oliver and Zoe Sarnak performed by Sarah Hunt, Rebekah Lowin, Taylor Noble, Emily Rogers and Andrea Ross.

The event will take place at the swanky Broadway dinner club, 54 Below, located at 254 W 54th St.  The performance has a $10 cover plus a 2 drink minimum, but hey, it’s better than drinking whatever is in that plastic bottle under your bed! More information and reservations are available on the 54 Below website.
