Lehman Hall is closed and its materials and staff have successfully moved over to the new LeFrak Center, but the old building itself remains. It looks over our shoulders every day as we walk over to our Diana/Milbank classes, reminding us that it is merely a shadow of what it once used to be. One might even notice that the lights on the second floor are all turned on at night – but there is no hope of entry, no hope of usage. Lehman giveth hope and Lehman taketh away. We compiled some post-mortem shots of the building to satisfy your daily dose of melancholy:
- The second floor looks so bright, but there’s nothing there
- If you look closely, you can see some of the student art from Barnlib Paint Night last fall
- Is that a painting of a book? A landscape? A secret symbol known only to the artist?
- A painting of a book we’ll never be able to read again
- During the day, the remnants of Barnard’s previously-lush green are unfortunately visible
- One solitary tree stands its ground – but for how long
