Having trouble trying to decide what classes to take next semester? Bwog gives you a list of the best classes offered for Spring 2017 and for the rest of your time at Columbia.
Palestinian and Israeli Politics and Society with Professor Joseph Massad: this is a difficult course but you leave knowing something new after each class. Unfortunately, the course is not open to freshman.
Gender and Sexuality in Ancient Greece with Professor Helene Foley: really, anything taught by Helene Foley is worthwhile.
Intro to Art History II with Professor Anne Higonnet: one of the only Art History courses that is bearable.
Art, Sex, & American Culture with Professor Pam Cobrin: one of the best First Year Seminar courses for Barnard students.
Literature and Popular Culture in Franco’s Spain with Professor Wadda Rios-Font: it’s a difficult course and she grades pretty harshly, but the content is really interesting. If you’re interested in film this is a great class; you spend most classes watching movie clips and discussing cinematic representations of Spanish cultural elements.
Intro Philosophy with Professor David Friedell: this is one of the classes that every college student should take.
Intro to Logic with Professor John Morrison: this class will teach something that a lot of students need to learn.
First Amendment Values with Professor Paula Franzese: Franzese is a really kind professor that will make you feel like the greatest student on Earth. This class has a lot of interesting reads. This course helps to define personal political philosophies and beliefs and apply them to issues in American Politics today.
Justice with Professor David Johnston: you get to meet with RBG in Washington D.C. Enough said.
Neurobiology and Emotion with Professor Svetlana Rosis: It counts for neuro/psych requirements and Rosis is a really nice professor.

@Your teacher Trump’s America?
1. “Hearing discourse you may not agree with”
Trump notoriously opposes free speech. Even the National Review thinks so:
http://www.nationalreview.com/article/432848/donald-trump-opposes-free-speech-pc-left
2. “Hold your breath until you get your way”
Trump has the temperament of a 5 year old. Didn’t he threaten to not concede the race? And what about Republican obsturctionist strategies, from the 2013 shutdown to refusing to consider the Garland nomination. They are having a temper tantrum on a national stage.
2. “Values logic and reason over arbitrary feelings.”
I had a lot of counter-examples but, oh God. Really? Just read the man’s Twitter.
I am disappointed that people like you are found at Columbia. I only hope your hateful, sexist rhetoric is limited to Internet trolling. If you dare keep this up we – by which I mean civil rights institutions, university organisations and others who value “PC” (i.e. basic human respect) mores- will come after you and make you regret every spiteful, stupid word you’ve uttered. (Through legal and institutional means of course – unlike you, we don’t go in for mob justice and guns).
That said, we are the majority. :)
@Boom These classes are all PC circle jerks.
Hey Barnard, better start getting used to living in Trump’s America, us deplorables will be tearing down your “safe spaces” one by one. Get used to hearing discourse you may not agree with. Get used to not being able to hold your breath until you get your way. Get used to a world that values logic and reason over arbitrary feelings.
