“I’ll take ‘Words That Send A Shiver Down Your Spine’ for 400, Alex.”

It’s the first day of the spring semester, so Bwog is back, baby (with a spankin’ new website)! For the uninitiated, welcome to Bwoglines: your daily, bite-sized news digest of what’s going on, both in the world and on campus.

Happening in the World: Since UK Prime Minister Theresa May’s Brexit deal catastrophically failed to pass last week, things have been pretty discombobulated across the pond. Now, other members of parliament are pushing rival Brexit plans to fill the void after May’s failure. 66 days until the deadline to leave! (BBC)

Happening in the US: Yesterday, Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) announced that she was running for president in the 2020 race. Harris is now the eighth Democrat to officially enter the race; the New York Times has a handy-dandy candidate tracker for you to consider. (Twitter; NYTimes)

Happening in NYC: Since last we spoke, Governor Andrew Cuomo shut down the planned shutdown of the L Train. Everything’s a bit of a mess, now, because nothing about the MTA can ever be easy. Gothamist rode the L and asked its patrons for their thoughts on the situation. (NYTimes; Gothamist)

Happening on campus: You probably have enough going on already, but check back here in a few hours for a comprehensive list of every audition you could want to attend in the coming weeks!

Listen to this:

(Because Columbia’s own Vampire Weekend is coming out with the first single(s??) off their double album this week!)

Oversmelled: Powerful weed odor thoroughly perfuming my entire floor. Come on y’all, it’s literally day one.
