Welcome to Furnald! Quiet yet quaint, Furnald is mostly filled with first-years who think business shouldn’t be mixed with pleasure. However, if you’re a sophomore trying to finesse a single, this might be a great option for you…

- AC/Heating: Has AC and heating.
- Kitchen: Every floor is equipped with a kitchen with two microwaves,

Class Make-up: Mostly first-years and some sophomores.
Room variety:
- 190 singles, 40 of which are reserved for sophomores (!) None are horrible small, ranging from 100 square feet to an amazing 163 square feet. Singles on floor 1 tend to be larger than singles on higher floors.
- 28 doubles, ranging from not-too-bad 175 square feet to an enormous 245 square feet. Each floor ranges from having 1 double (floor 10) to as many as 5 doubles (floor 1).
- Floors 1-3 and 10 are smaller than the other floors, so they have fewer rooms than floors 3-9. Furnald 2 is separated by “suites,” one of which is all female and other which is all male residents. Each suite has its own lounge, kitchen, and bathroom.
Numbers:
- There is no cutoff for Furnald doubles, however the cutoff for singles was 10/181 last year and 10/1604 the year before. Clearly it fluctuates a lot, and Furnald is a lucky grab for sophomores as freshmen tend to get the majority of rooms and whatever is left goes to sophomores. However, if you do really want a single as a sophomore, a Furnald room is a great option as there are few single options for sophomores.
Bwog recommendation:
- Furnald can be a very quiet dorm so it is a great space to come home to and relax with peace. However, it’s not super antisocial as some people make it seem– if you don’t want to bring the party home with you or aren’t necessarily into the party scene, Furnald is a good pick.
- The lounges are large, clean, and useful. I’ve seen so many people from other dorms study there because it’s just as quiet but much more inviting than a room in Butler.
- It’s a great chance for sophomores and freshmen to meet each other.
- Views on the upper floors are AMAZING.
- You’ve never seen bathrooms so clean.
