Bring back the Classic Hewitt™  vibe with the muffled Pop Radio.

We, the students of Columbia University, demand that Chartwells bring back Hewitt Food Hall’s Pop Radio.

Rain or shine, 8 AM to 7:45 PM, the Top 100 used to play on loop at Hewitt Food Hall. Nowhere else could Columbia students listen to “Señorita” by Shawn Mendes, followed by “Someone You Loved” by Lewis Capaldi, and “ROXANNE” by Arizona Zervas in rapid succession. It is within our rights to hear Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts” multiple times within the same hour over the speakers, half-asleep during breakfast, and to cry over our plates when “Lover” by Taylor Swift plays at dinner.

We call on Chartwells to stop playing enjoyable music and beautiful videos. We request the return of the likes of Billie Eilish, Post Malone, and Camila Cabello. We believe there is nothing more comforting than knowing exactly in which order the songs will play. We believe there is no greater pleasure than to know all the lines Selena Gomez’s “Lose You To Love Me” and to sing along with other students at our tables.

To do your part in supporting the cause, blast Dua Lipa’s “Physical” every time you eat at Hewitt Food Hall.
