Happening in the World: Thousands of people have been detained in Russia for protesting the arrest of opposition leader Alexei Navalny. Navalny was put in prison after exposing that the Russian government tried to murder him with a nerve agent. This was the second week that people came out to the streets of Moscow to protest in his honor (BBC).

Happening in the US: Dustin Diamond, known for his role playing “Screech” in the hit teen sitcom “Saved by the Bell”, has passed away at the age of 44. Diamond revealed to the public a month ago that he was battling cancer, and had been undergoing chemotherapy at a Florida hospital (CNN).

Happening in NYC: After facing backlash, Andrew Yang’s New York City mayoral campaign has decided to stop making their volunteers sign non-disclosure agreements. The contracts stated that volunteers could face legal consequences if they revealed any non-public information about the campaign or its staffers. Many individuals thought that this could be used to silence volunteers about their negative experiences with the campaign (Daily News).
