Columbia Dining announces updates to dining during finals week, winter break, and in the new year, including a new dining option in Uris.
In an email sent to students this afternoon, Columbia Dining announced a brand new dining experience: fresh subs, including vegan options, at Uris Deli. This new dining option will be called Chef Mike’s Sub Shop and will open its doors on January 18 with an opening celebration event on January 26.
To get a sub, students can pay by meal swipe, Dining Dollars, Flex, a guest swipe, or $15.95 by credit card. One meal consists of a sandwich, a soup, a side, a beverage, and a dessert. Columbia Dining also offered a special sneak peek of the menu. The sub shop will only be offering to-go options and will not be open for indoor dining.
The email also informed students about changes to dining hall hours during finals week and winter break. On Saturday, December 18 and Sunday, December 19, Faculty House will have extended hours and will be open from 9:30 am to 2 pm. During winter break (December 23 to January 18), John Jay will close at 9 pm on December 22 and reopen at 9:30 am on January 18, JJ’s Place will close at 10 pm on December 22 and reopen at 12 pm on January 18, and Ferris Booth Commons will close at 2 pm on December 23 and reopen at 11:30 am on January 18.
For some extra holiday cheer, Ferris, JJ’s Place, and John Jay will be serving holiday-inspired dinners on Thursday, December 9, and Blue Java will be serving Chai Eggnog and Gingerbread Lattes through the end of December.
Columbia Dining rounded out the email by introducing students to Chef Christian McKenna, the Executive Sous Chef at John Jay Dining Hall, and reminding students to text 55744 with ‘thedish’ to sign up for important dining information or with a Dining location code for feedback, questions, or shout-outs. The Dining location codes are TXTJAY for John Jay, TXTJJ for JJ’s Place, and TXTFBC for Ferris Booth Commons.
