Yep. There are still bad things happening in Ukraine.
Happening in the World: The US has sent 90 tons of “lethal aid” to Ukraine in the midst of continued Russian military buildup at the border. The aid, which consists partially of ammunition for front-line defenders, is part of a broader $200 million package approved by Joe Biden in December. Russian officials have continued to deny that they have any plans to invade or attack Ukraine. (BBC)
Happening in the US: Last night, two NYPD officers were shot at while responding to a domestic violence call on West 135th street by Lennox Avenue. One officer, Jason Rivera, 22, was killed. The other, Wilbert Mora, 27, is currently in critical condition at Harlem Hospital. The gunman was shot in the arm by a third officer and is also in critical condition. (NYT)
Happening in NYC: The NYC public school system is facing backlash from teachers, administrators, and families over their administration “learning loss” tests. The tests, which were designed to assess how much material students have missed throughout the pandemic and the mix of online and in-person school, have been criticized as age-inappropriate and redundant. Preliminary data does show that learning progress in math and reading has been much slower than expected. (Gothamist)
Happening in Our Community: Today, from 7 to 9 pm, will be a showcase of Max Roach Protest Songs by The Christine Correa Ensemble! See this link for details.

@Anonymous The U.S. is sending weapons to literal neo nazis in the Ukraine. These are the “good guys” loser SIPA grads at the CIA keep telling you about. Wake the fuck up, sheeple.
@Anonymous me when i buy into kremlin propaganda
@Anonymous Yes can confirm the guys we worked with over there who happened to have swastika tattoos and talked about killing jews and eradicating russians were ACTUALLY just big softies. They were just joking you see…
@Anonymous ah yes, anonymous person in internet comments. I, a person with critical thinking skills, will believe your nonspecific anecdotes. thanks for confirming all this stuff! I feel convinced it’s all real!
@Anonymous pov: you dont talk to a single ukrainian or read anything that isnt jacobin magazine
@Anonymous Take your meds and turn off CNN you neocon dork. Why so much russophobia? How about you show us on the doll where the russians hurt you…
@Anonymous I was there in 2014. Didnt meet many ukrainians because almost everyone living there was Russian … 🤣🤣🤣
@Anonymous no ukrainians at the euromaidan is such a nuclear take
@Anonymous The people of Donetsk are ethnically Russian. Do they not have a right to self determination?
@Anonymous have you ever met, god forbid spoken to, a person from Donbass? be honest
@Anonymous Russian is the native language of 87% of Donetsk residents. 1/2 identify as ethnically Russian. Allowing the people of the area to choose to join Russia is literally democracy. You do believe in democracy RIGHT?
@Anonymous dude, I’m begging you to *think*
French is the official language of the DRC, should we consider it France just because of the language imposed on it by their colonizer?
and if Donbass is “ethnically Russian”, do explain why the millions of refugees displaced by the war all went to Ukraine and not Russia? seems like it would be a lot easier to go to their “home” country, no?
