The light at the end of the tunnel is coming, y’all.
Bwogline: In promising news for our economic recovery from COVID-19, the US economy added back 428,000 jobs in April. While the unemployment rate remained at 3.6%, the increase marked the 16th consecutive month of job increases. The gains have come more quickly than many analysts expected, given the loss of 22 million jobs in the early pandemic shutdowns. (BBC)
Study Tip: Use the (modified) Pomodoro Technique. 20-minute work sessions, five-minute breaks in between, and an extended get-up-and-walk-around break after three work sessions is perfect for the studier whose phone is usually perpetually in their hand—like myself.
Music of the Day: “Time Today” by Kero Kero Bonito. It’s upbeat, it’s energetic, and it’s about the semi-futility of constantly trying to fill the day with plans and schedules. You can either A. take in the energy as a refresher, or B. be mildly saddened by the lyrics! Perfectly applicable to this part of the semester!
Procrastination Tip: Convince yourself that you can’t do work until after you’ve had lunch. Like, until it’s at least 1 pm. It has worked wonders for me so far.
Overseen/Overheard: I saw a tiny little dachshund in a frog onesie yesterday. Their “walk” is better described as a waddle. They threw their front foot out to the side every time they took a step. It was much better than whatever you’re currently picturing.
