Happening in the US: The Fairview fire east of Hemet, California killed two and injured one as the fire quickly spread through 2,000 acres of Riverside County. The Fairview fire has halted local schools from returning to classes. (LA Times)

Happening in NYC: In response to stores requiring that patrons be 21 and show ID to buy whipped cream in New York, State Senator Joseph Addabbo Jr. clarified that his bill did not apply to traditional cans of whipped cream, but rather only to “whipped cream chargers,” the nitrous oxide-filled cartridge that acts as a whipping agent.
