According to our Slack channel description, “Nationalism is cool when there’s a checkered ball.”
Like most people in the world, Bwog got really invested in the 2022 World Cup this month. Whether it’s because some of us were long-time fans of soccer, students from the countries the national teams represent, or just really like watching men wear short shorts and run really fast, we’ve been watching almost every game that happened.
And in pure Bwog fashion, we haven’t been able to shut up about the World Cup. So, here are some of the highlights of our 2022 World Cup commentary! Go sports!
First, we reacted to the many goals that happened this year:
Celebrating Argentina’s win against The Netherlands in the Quarterfinals The one (1) Bwogger rooting for France…
We experienced new levels of stress:
Mbappé’s shoe broke! “Losing my Religion” has no place here For context: France advanced to the final, much to the world’s dismay
We rediscovered nationalism and expressed it in totally healthy ways:
Orange: the combination of both yellow (cards) and red (cards) le sigh… Putting down the mate to dunk on some Dutch people What are you, weebs for soccer? Someone who finally understands the wonderful game of soccer!
We talked about the real things:
Ankle biters (affectionate) David still triumphed over Goliath, so… Headbutts are cheating when the opponents can’t see the top of your head
And, last but not least, we decided that the Man of the World Cup is, without a doubt, the hot goalie from Morocco, Yassine Bounou:
Es guapo! Bwog (Niagara) Falls for Bounou It is 80 degrees in Qatar right now No one is.
The final for the World Cup will take place 10 am EST, so make sure to stay tuned in! May Argentina the best team win!
