Sobering headlines call for some way to unwind. How about jazz?

Happening in the World: Three key figures of Ukraine’s interior ministry have died in a helicopter crash that has killed at least 17 people. Their deaths mark the highest-profile casualties of the war so far, though the exact reasons for the crash are currently unclear. The incident follows a few days after one of the deadliest Russian strikes, where a missile hit a block of apartments and killed 45. (BBC)

Happening in the US: The number of schools withdrawing from participation in the U.S. News & World Report rankings has increased, with a key figure joining their ranks: Harvard Medical School. In explaining their withdrawal, the dean of the faculty of medicine argued that the rankings are unable to accurately portray the values and goals of the graduate school. (NYT)

Happening in NYC: Homelessness is on the rise in the city as the number of monthly evictions continues to increase. Though the number of evictions is still below pre-pandemic levels—a moratorium on evictions was imposed on the city for just under two years—activists worry that a spike in evictions is still on the horizon.
