The health ministry put out a statement calling for the suspension of elective surgeries, temporary field hospitals, and announcing that that medical students near the end of their programs will be hired to increase resources. Happening in NYC: FIFA announced yesterday that MetLife Stadium will host the 2026 FIFA World Cup final match. Mayor Eric Adams and New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy have applauded the decision on social media. The mayor’s office expects the event to create over 14 thousand jobs and pump over $2 billion into the economy. The tournament will start in Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca. (Gothamist)
Happening in Our Community: A panel featuring the Chairs of the Foreign Affairs Parliamentary Committees of Denmark, Estonia, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, and Sweden will be held in the Low Library Rotunda from 12 to 1:30 pm today. The speakers will address the role of Nordic-Baltic countries in critical world issues. Students are invited to participate in a question and answer section.
