Staff writer Zoë and guest writer Thelma go to Grace Dodge to try the new menu options!
As two Grace Dodge frequenters (we love their ramen!!!!), we just had to try the new additions to the menu! According to the dining hall website, Grace Dodge will now rotate ramen, fried rice bowls, and curry bowls weekly. This week, they are serving curry and here is our review!
Zoë’s Order:
Steamed rice, chicken and vegetable curry, scallions, dried shallots, spicy carrot slaw, and chili oil

Overall, I really enjoyed my lunch!! The chicken was both flavorful and juicy; I also think there was the right amount of chicken, not too much and not too little. I do think the rice was a good option for this bowl as the base because it made it easier to mix all the toppings together to have one cohesive bowl. My personal favorite topping was the spicy carrot slaw! It had a nice spice to it, especially with the addition of the chili oil and it provided a fresh addition to the bowl. In addition, to your bowl you can get a hot or cold drink and a snack. I opted for water and oreos to round out my meal! I would definitely recommend heading over to Teacher’s College for this option (and any other option they are serving up).
Thelma’s Order:
Yakisoba noodles, pork and vegetable curry, scallions, kimchi, crispy shallots, sesame oil, and soy sauce.

Review:
As a Grace Dodge ramen supporter, I was nervous about the menu changes. However, I am happy to report the curry is just as enjoyable! The pork in the curry seemed similar to that used in the ramen, giving the dish a familiar ingredient. The base of my order was the yakisoba noodles, which, in retrospect, are not the best vehicle for a curry. Nevertheless, the curry was just as delicious with them. I am a big kimchi appreciator and was given a generous serving on top of the dish that added a tinge of spiciness. I would also highly recommend the crispy shallots, as they add a very fun texture to the bowl! As a little warning, the pork curry does contain shellfish in its recipe, so that may limit accessibility. Overall, I’m happy that we made the short trek to Teachers College for lunch!
