The Community Health House is running a drive for donations for children with congenital heart defects and their families until Monday, April 22nd. You may not be able to give these kids what they really need, which is a heart without a congenital defect, but you can still make a difference!
Locations: Drop-off boxes will be located in the lobbies of John Jay, Furnald, Broadway, Schapiro, EC and Wien.
Items: We are collecting many things, including hand sanitizer, personal packs of tissues, shampoo, soaps, lotion, lip balm, toothpaste, toothbrushes, socks, floss, eye masks and ear plugs (as the families of these children often have to stay at hospitals overnight while their children are undergoing surgery). We are also collecting any puzzle books, coloring books, crayons, stuffed animals, drawing pads, notebooks, memo books.
Any donations would be really appreciated and all items will be delivered to Boston Children’s Hospital to give to children and their families who are in Intensive Care Units.

@cc2013 Yes that is true but the organization working with us for the drive doesn’t have a chapter in the NYC area, strangely enough. It would’ve been great to do it for a children’s hospital around here (such as the one at the medical center, MSCHONY, associated with New York Presbyterian), but it wasn’t possible. There are however other organizations that do similar things for the NYC area and work with MSCHONY and other hospitals around here!
@CC alum This is a great idea, but shouldn’t donations (at least some of them) stay local? There are plenty of kids with CHD in NYC…
