Did you hear that? There’s a whispering in the air. Is it an activist’s megaphone, the voice rebounding through Low Rotunda? No, that’s not it. Is it the distant chanting of hundreds of Bernie-bros on 109th, walking lockstep in matching Bernie 2016 shirts like Marinetti-esque robots? No, that can’t be it. Is it the Zionism conspiracist who hangs out near the Broadway gates, chanting about Israel and chem trails? We haven’t actually seen that guy in a while, so it can’t be him.
No, it’s the whisper of community building events, lifting off from a mire of stress and student body anxiety. That’s right—you can talk about it in the open now—today is the annual Surf and Turf (or Surf ‘n Turf, if you’re feeling particularly wacky) dinner on Butler Lawn. From 5 to 9 PM you can get “Lobster Tails, New York Strip Steak, a Shrimp Boat and access to the Ultimate Ice Cream Bar!”
While we can’t guarantee that the Ice Cream Bar will truly be Ultimate, we can guarantee that the weather will be great and the food delicious. Access to the event will cost you one meal swipe—or the equivalent in Dining Dollars or Flex. If you want to pay with cash or credit, that’s okay, too. You just have to go to John Jay to do so.
