Happening in the World:  In southern Turkey, a cable car cabin collided with a pole and burst open, causing one person to be killed and ten to be stranded after the cabin fell to the ground. While emergency workers evacuated passengers, the whole cable car system was halted. Turkey’s disaster and emergency management agency stated that a total of 128 passengers were rescued from the 16 cable cars on Friday night in Antalya’s Konyaaltı district. According to officials, 43 passengers remained stranded by Saturday morning. (BBC)

Happening in the US: A father in Georgia has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for using antifreeze mixed in breastmilk to poison his 18-day-old daughter in 2020. When the mother was hospitalized after giving birth to their child, Curtis Jack—the father—picked up bottles of breastmilk, which police said he admitted adding antifreeze to so that he could avoid paying child support. Automotive antifreeze is extremely toxic to ingest. According to the child’s mother, the child is okay. (NBC)

Happening in NYC: Police have arrested a man accused of assaulting a child in Grand Central Terminal. At 11:50 am on Saturday, police say that the man walked up to the 9-year-old child standing by her mother and punched her in the face unprovoked. The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Jean Carlos Zarzuela, has been arrested and charged with assault. (CBS)
