Columbia student (and Spec style editor) Xiyin Tang ’09 was featured in New York magazine’s feature “Say Everything,” discussing her use of LiveJournal and, of course, Facebook.
“Xiyin clicks to her Facebook profile, which features 88 photos… ‘To me, or to a lot of people, it’s like, why go to a party if you’re not going to get your picture taken?’” How very Edie Sedgwick.

Not worth reading, really.
I’m guessing that ten years from now we’re going to have a bunch of stories about how these young adults are haunted by their teenage blogs, or somesuch.
@ummm has anyone actually seen her livejournal? i just took a look and it doesn’t seem like many people read it, her writing is mediocre and personal to the point that no one but her close friends would be interested in it and she doesn’t even really update that often. There’s definitely no “fan base.” how/why was she chosen for this feature at all?
@hmmm maybe someone saw her getting her picture taken at a party and was intrigued.
@ass if you don’t like xiyin, that’s your own problem, but no one can call her stupid or lazy or lacking in potential. i don’t know anyone who works harder than she does, has more fun and gets better grades. not everyone came to this school to fucking sit around in their pajamas in lerner on saturday night studying calc.
@thkie haha i know xiyin. this is sooooo like her. she’s always full of herself. oh well i just hope that she actually has some real plans for after graduation. if you’ve ever read EVERYBODY WORTH KNOWING there’s this bitch that the main character hates, its some dumb bitch who goes around spreading rumors and shit and just trying to cause trouble wherever she goes. well XIYIN TANG is that bitch. ahhahahaha. good luck with your future ziyin
@whatever she’s actually a pretty cool person, but whatever you think of her, you’re the nerds sitting here vehemently critiquing livejournals and flaming people anonymously online. i guess everyone loses, but mostly poster #11, who, it seems to me, is probably an asshole, and definitely creepy.
@babblefishy “but whatever you think of her, you’re the nerds sitting here vehemently critiquing livejournals and flaming people anonymously online”
translated into livejournal speak:
“omg ur just jelus. whateva bitchez im hawt.”
@ooooh http://blinkmexo.livejournal.com/
@all i want to know is if anyone has discovered this self-obsessed girl’s livejournal yet
@although i agree she comes off that way, she’s actually kinda cool if you get to know her. she won’t let this get to her.
@i disagree i know her, and i really don’t love her. i am willing to bet, in fact, that poster 12 IS her.
@worthless someone ought to take that girl out back and put her out of my misery. sometimes i hate new york city.
@Woodrow Wilson man, spoont blew
@i'm so glad that girls like xiyin are serving as the models for our generation. for a second, i was scared i might have some sort of credibilty after graduation, but now i know that i don’t need a life in the real world so long as i have a fake fan base on the internet.
@the best part “To me, or to a lot of people, it’s like, why go to a party if you’re not going to get your picture taken?”
(VOMIT)
@but really who did xyin have to blow to get that
@Man At least the NYMag graphic is cool, yeah?
@lol all of this is true
@who cares? old fogies who still think thier computer is trying to kill them
@this is ridiculous.
@wtf comment 1 is correct.
who cares!?
