Some students will spend tonight locked in their rooms, sobbing over the phone to their mothers about their housing lottery numbers. But if you find comfort in the company of others, or maybe just in edible free crap, consider the African Diasporic Literary Society!
Tonight it offers a free dinner in the Malcolm X Lounge at 7:45, with a discussion of the play “Brujerias” beginning at 8:00. That’s a whole meal, gratis. In this economy. And the ADLS meets every week. You’re welcome.

@?!? why is lottery by priority not viewable? I have to see how fucked over I just got, the number itself isn’t hitting home
@Anonymous Am I looking at this wrong?
Is my housing number really 196?
Anyone else have theirs yet too?
@wow i hate you so so much
@yos housing numbers are out son
@hmm so if i want “edible free crap” i should go to this dinner? is all free food highlighted by bwog fitting that description or just ADLS’s?
@... agreed, bwog. what’s the deal?
@i want free food and my lottery number. now. do they email them to us? when????
@We have a Malcolm X lounge? Jesus are you shitting me? If there was a George Wallace lounge there would be a hungerstrike shit storm. Hell we’d have the fucking black panthers on campus. But Malcolm X? Oh hell no its fine to invoke him. My comparison is in fact quite fitting because George Wallace professed segregation (i.e. “Segregation today, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever”) and Malcolm X professed the same in that he was staunchly against integration and for a separation of black and white society. To quote Malcolm X: “when you’ve got some coffee that’s too black, which means it’s too strong, what do you do? You integrate it with cream… But if you pour too much cream in it, you won’t even know you ever had coffee. It used to be hot, it becomes cool. It used to be strong, it becomes weak. It used to wake you up, now it puts you to sleep.”
@also now that you’ve had your rant on bwog do you feel better? if you’re so offended by the name, why not take it up with people who actually care
@woww the historian in me is disgusted. the human being in me is disgusted. please tell me youre not so obtuse to actually believe its a valid analogy
@Please tell me that you’re not such an angry partisan that you would willfully ignore the fucked up messages that Malcolm X preached. Don’t pull some fucking hungerstriker/extremist liberal bullshit on me and call me racist out of hand just to stoke reactionary sentiment either. MLK appealed to our better angles and Malcolm X appealed to our darkest devils.
@Uhhh What’s with this wooden cutlery? oh right i get it, real subtle bwog
@wait what’s funny about the wooden cutlery?
