The Athena Film Festival Is Coming!
I MISS THEM SO MUCH

Girl power!

The 3rd annual Athena Film Festival will be going on at Barnard next week — February 7-10 —  and featuring some incredible films and guests.  Tonight, for BC students only, there will be a free Athena Global Shorts Watch Party at 7 pm in The Hive, 1st floor of Altschul Hall.  Refreshments will be served.

At this watch party, students will be shown the Athena Globa Shorts: TasnimNortheast FrontThe Director, and Umoja: No Men Allowed — films celebrating the innumerable ways women lead in their communities worldwide — in addition to Bwog’s favorite film (at least until Catching Fire comes out): The Hunger Games.  If all of that wasn’t enough to make you come out for this, two lucky students will be winning a DVD of the Athena Global Shorts.

Bwoglines: May the Odds Be Ever In Your Favor Edition
Up up up!

It's a big big big day!

The odds were in SIPA teacher Jean-Marie Guéhenno’s favor as he was appointed Deputy Joint Special Envoy of the United Nations and the League of Arab States on Syria. (UN)

Are you a free lunch fanatic?  Well, you’re basically killing America’s odds of defeating economic problems. (Bloomberg)

Despite last night’s Million Hoodie march, the odds may not be in the favor of prosecutors in the Trayvon Martin case, Columbia Law School professor Jeffrey Fagan explains.  (International Business Times, Greenfield Daily Reporter)

DSpar recently spoke in Mumbai, explaining the benefits of women’s colleges and international students’ odds of admission. (NYTimes)

The Hunger Games film opens tonight at midnight and the odds are definitely in its favor to be, like, the biggest thing ever.  But actually.  In case you didn’t read the book, get caught up before you’re left out of every conversation this weekend.  (E!, The Washington Post)
