Improv Everywhere organizes an annual No-Pants subway ride

Improv Everywhere, the guerilla performance group that masterminds incredible public displays of silliness all over New York City, has teamed up with the (now suddenly hip) CUArts. The Mp3 Experiment Columbia University is the latest iteration of a well-established IE mission, and will definitely be the best orientation activity ever planned in the history of orientation—well the first week back at school, which can be very disorientating.

It will take place before the Activities Fair. Participants assemble, with props, at a given time and location (Ancel Plaza). They are in possession of instructions via an mp3 file which you must not listen to before the event, in order to preserve spontaneity. Synchronized by atomic clock, the participants hit play and follow the mystery instructions.

The magic will happen on September 9th, and will be followed by a live talk with Charlie Todd, the founder Improv Everywhere, later that afternoon. You can RSVP to the Experiment on facebook, and for the talk on CUArts. Being the savviest of campus publications, we already interviewed Todd in the March edition of The Blue & White.

Spoiler alert: David Pogue already did the experiment and wrote about it.
