Yes indeed, the great ravager of friend groups commonly referred to as the Housing Lottery is slowly approaching. It’s time for that awkward portion of the spring semester where everyone you know (or don’t know) starts asking you what your plans are for housing, and you never know whether they’re just making small talk or about to ask you to join them in a Watt studio double for a year of uncomfortable bathroom-sharing.
False friendships aside, if you’re looking to scope out options for next year, you best quickfoot it over to the John Jay lounge for one of the tours of campus housing, leaving every 30 minutes from 7 to 8 pm. You can attend the following tours:
The Block: McBain, Watt, Broadway, and Ruggles
West Campus: Claremont, Nussbaum, Schapiro, Woodbridge, and Harmony
East Campus: EC and Wien
What better way to spend your Thursday night than scoping out where you’ll be spending all your Thursday nights next year? Just don’t be that awkward kid on the tour asking everyone else if they want to live with him. Trust us.

@Best Advise You'll Get To the rising seniors: pick one friend and aim for woodbridge.
@bad analogy guy Choosing which dorm you’re going to live in is like choosing which Sports Illustrated swimsuit model to have sex with — your opinion has no value and you’re just going to wind up masturbating alone in Wein.
@Anonymous No: http://housingservices.columbia.edu/content/selection-priority. “BC Students are not figured into the average.” When you’re figuring out priority number (30pt, 20pt, 10pt, etc.), Barnard students are just not counted. It’s as if they aren’t there (for the purposes of priority number). So if you have, for example an ECX with two seniors, two juniors, and a Barnard student (who can be either a senior or a junior, but not a sophomore), your point value is 25 ((20×2 + 30×2)/4). If you have five Columbia seniors and one Barnard student in a six-person group, then your point value is 30 ((30×5)/5).
@Early Housing Question If an all senior CU group adds one Barnard senior, will that decrease our point value? Gotta get that 30-point swag.
@CC'13 their value will be 0
