In the latest installment of funny CU ladies making it big, we present to you Kate McKinnon, CC ’06 and alumna of VShow 109 (alongside Jenny Slate). Last night, she made her SNL debut, and as a tipster put it, “In her first show alone, she’s gotten more screen time than Jay Pharoah dreams about. Jokes, but not really.” McKinnon is the show’s first openly lesbian cast member. Last night, she parodied a lisp-y Penelope Cruz and the overbearing Tabitha from Bravo’s Shear Genius—check it out here.

@Anonymous Wow they really threw her into the deep end, and she killed it.
Also, this almost definitely stems from my being a straight male and not understanding how gay women work, but HOW WAS SHE NOT DISTRACTED BY SOFIA AY QUE LINDA
@Elizabeth Logan LGo Kate McKinnon, reppin’ CU on SNL! However, she is NOT the first openly gay cast member! From 1985-1986, Terry Sweeney appeared on the show, and he was the first openly gay cast member. She is the SECOND. McKinnon IS the first openly LESBIAN cast member, and good for her! I think she did a great job last night–but please correct this for the comedy super-nerds of this campus.
@Ella Oops! We will correct. Thanks.

Also, the fact that she got such a large debut is a crime when you consider the other cast members, especially the minorities. smdh
@Anonymous lol relax…
@seriously? Just because women keep rejecting you in bars doesn’t mean lesbians are suddenly in the majority…
@Anonymous She might not be a minority, but she is a woman, and woman are generally underrepresented in media so big ups to Kate.
@Anonymous Bwog, that’s a Ford commercial…
@Official Bwog Spokesperson Yes, you are correct. And I would like to take this opportunity to introduce Bwog’s new managers: Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F)! Don’t worry, we will continue to provide you with the latest news from campus, but now rather than consisting of crappy student-written articles, we will be copy-and-pasting directly from Columbia press releases to ensure accuracy. Oh, and every other article will be a professionally produced video like the one above! We hope you are as excited about this new chapter in Bwog’s history as we are! Please feel free to voice your opinions in the comments below!
@so what you can’t afFord to watch it?
@Anonymous The video doesn’t work.
