Pumpkin carving is so passé. Bwog brings you a better way to not only enjoy your favorite autumnal herb, but also save your lungs the planet. Sate your urges with a pumpkin pipe for your tobacco and other “herbal products.”
What you will need and where to get it:
- 1 small pumpkin—Greenmarket
- 6″ length of 1/4″ copper tubing—University Hardware
- 1 “lavatory strainer”—University Hardware* or Amazon
- 1 power drill (or a much cheaper hand drill) with 1/4″ and 1/2″ bits
- 1 pointy knife
Procedure:
- Cut out the stem of the pumpkin, scrape out as much of the guts as you can, but focus on the seeds.
- Cut off the long part of the stem, leaving a small stub attached to the cap. Using the 1/2″ drill bit, bore a hole through the cap, big enough to fit the mesh in snugly.
- Fit the strainer into the cap and snugly place into the pumpkin.
- Bore a 1/4″ hole into the side of the pumpkin and fit the copper tubing into this hole. Be sure to clear any debris from the end of the tube inside the pumpkin by blowing into the tube. Pack “herb” of choice and enjoy!
* Note: any mesh-like material will work, but make sure it holds up under some heat, since this is where your “herbs” are going to be burnin’.
