Update, 1:06 PM: numbers for those entering the Barnard lottery are now up as well. No, you didn’t get an email about it.
…supposedly, since it is currently impossible to log in to the housing portal due to increased traffic. However, housing had announced that the numbers would go up before 5pm today, and tipsters are informing us that they’re already there.
Either way, this is how you do it in case you’re feeling lucky:
- Go to the StarRez Portal
- Log in with your uni
- Repeat step 2 until you don’t see the “Server is experiencing a heavy load” message.
- Click on the Applications link on the upper left
- Quiver with anticipation
- Select the Academic Year 13-14 application
- Feel the sweat glisten on your forehead
- Click on Registration Summary
- Scroll down
- Weep uncontrollably with either misery or bliss
- Summon friends, repeat step 10

@curiou1styear All doom and gloom aside, what are the options for a rising soph in general with a 1500 lottery number. Would appreciate any wisdom . . .
@lol Exactly, this means these 6-person suites are no longer available to 6-person groups. I’m jaded because the housing website says there’s 40 6-person townhouses on the cut-off history but apparently 12 are taken by these RA suites. Bullshit if you ask me.

@lol In response to above^^
@lol Can someone explain why RAs in EC get to live in the 6-person suites and essentially take those from actual 6-person groups? Can’t they live in the 2-person suites with their riders?
@no RAs in EC only get to pick one rider and don’t have control over what 4-person group picks into their suite. I’d highly advise against picking into an RA suite though, will probably ruin your year
@Anonymous How many sophomores usually end up on the waitlist?
@Is there still hope If i am a rising junior with a number below 1900, am I living in wien or is there some light at the end of the tunnel?
@actually that information is already up on the housing website.
@Anonymous wein probs. also it’s not so bad. sink can be quite useful. can be used for everything except taking a shit
@Anonymous Is there a good online resource to figure out what lottery numbers can get what rooms and so on? Alternatively, can someone just tell me if 1850 is good enough for a Schapiro single as a junior?
@Here you go! http://www.housingatcu.com
@Anonymous Wrote a quick script to count group size counts for seniors based off the pdf.

@Unabashedly Pouty Rising Senior Every year I have been at this university I’ve had a lottery number above 2200. All I wanted for my last year was to be able to live with friends and have my own kitchen, and this stupid university had to fuck me over again. I understand the mechanics of a lottery, but somehow every time I’ve needed some kind of good luck or fortunate break from this place it’s let me down. Ugh fuck you Columbia I’m done.
@Anonymous Epic first world problems: Ivy League housing lottery
@Unabashedly Pouty Rising Senior Please get at me when you’re heading into your final year and realize you will never get the chance to live with your friends the way you would’ve liked, and 95% of the hopes you’ve had for college (not all housing related) have slowly dissipated along the way as you realize you’ve just taken the first of many steps along an epic journey of drudgery.
Melodramatic womp womp with the world’s tiniest violin, so sue me. Sorry for not dying of tuberculosis but still having frustration and disappointment in my life.
@another pissed off senior-misery loves company I hate this place because of housing too…wtf.
@Anonymous i’m a senior living in Schapiro, which i recognize is not an ideal situation, but you don’t see me crying about it.
find yourself a nice single, make some new friends, and walk across campus to visit your old friends (who will develop such dramatic relationships you’ll be glad you ended up living alone) like the rest of us. Oh, and get over yourself real quick, girl.
@i'm sorry i don’t wanna start shit but when did the commenter imply that they are a girl?
@Anonymous I don’t see you crying about it because when you cry no one is there to see it because you’re a senior living in Schapiro.
@FUCK YES GOt the email
@shaft dweller rising junior with 2929….hello mcbain part 2: the shaft strikes back

@Anonymous 6,777,069/8,244,910 hate getting shafted lol my number is 2 dam hi
@CC 13 I’m so glad I’m done with this crap.
@Anonymous Negative Infinity
@Anonymous What number would a rising senior need to get a John Jay single?
@Harsh Reality Negative Infinity
@Anonymous It’d be even easier if we could just stay put all four years.
@Anonymous Apparently there’s a big load on the website
@Anonymous ….that’s what she said
@CC 14 This would be so much easier if housing just sent out an email with a spreadsheet of the unis and lottery numbers from the beginning, rather than after the fact like last year. Or, you know, had a better server for the housing website. Or any Columbia website. Derp.
@Anonymous How did you get in to the portal?
@anon its pretty hard to get in
@RIP Bigga @anon: You just gotta know the bouncer
@eric yay i got number 5!
@Anon2 Shouldn’t it be no one gives a crap?
@Anonymous Shouldn’t it be “repeat step 10”?
@Anonymous whoever gave this tip. I don’t know who you are. I don’t know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don’t have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you.
@Shouting fire in a crowded theater You are no longer protected by our Constitution
@i submitted this tip to test if bwog checked their crap… they don’t! AND LOOK AT THE HYSTERIA THAT WILL ENSUE
@Congratulations You just used Bwog to crash the university login system. Good job.
@StarRez Inc Sorry I suck

@rising senior anyone know what the summer transfer options are going to be like this year? i’m in a two-person, 30/2800+ lottery number :( i’m okay with a 1br but if we can find something nicer than woodbridge i figured i’d ask

@Anonymous yep, not there.. sad face
