Bwog received a press release this afternoon from the Bacchanal Board informing us that a Spring Bacchanal concert will be held on April 4, 2015. This change in date allows for the concert to not fall during the Days on Campus weekend as it has in previous years. While some concerns about the state of Bacchanal have come up through students responses about the lack of safety at the concert, the board has confirmed the event for the spring with necessary safety precautions to be implemented.
All four undergraduate deans have approved the concert; however, they have required procedures to be taken by the Bacchanal Board to ensure a safe environment at the concert this year. Such changes include having “Lion Tamers,” or students who will patrol the event and monitor students’ health; a wrist brand system for all students and guests; and ample food and water resources for students on the day of the event. To view all of the necessary provisions for the event, read the entire letter signed by the Deans to the Bacchanal Board below.
Tl;dr: Bacchanal is on for the Spring. #BacchisBacch
Spring 2015 Bacchanal Concert Announcement
The Bacchanal Executive Board is relieved to announce that there will be a Spring Concert on April 4, 2015. The date change was designed so Bacchanal does not conflict with Days On Campus anymore. While we are extremely excited to be having the concert, there is much work to be done. We are currently working with campus partners, administrators, student groups, and the entire student body to see how we can best allocate our assets to improve the safety and security of the event, while still promoting a fun, carefree, and spirited day for Columbia students to come together as one. It is our hope that the safety measures we plan to put in place, paired with constant vigilance for opportunities to further improve the show, will continue to make Bacchanal as safe and enjoyable as possible. With that in mind, we held a Town Hall on November 19th in order to brainstorm ideas for implementation in the Spring and to generate a Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct will be released in the beginning of the Spring semester as we continue to introduce new safety initiatives ahead of the show. We are very grateful to partner with the four undergraduate Deans to bring this event to you and cannot thank them enough for their unwavering support heading towards the Spring. Please see our approval letter from the four undergraduate Deans, as well as, our Code of Conduct, and get excited for our annual concert to come bacch. Additionally, please feel free to reach out to the Executive Board at bacchanal.eboard@gmail.com if you have any comments, concerns, or suggestions, and follow our facebook page at www.facebook.com/CUBacchanal for more updates. #bacchisbacch!

@Shoutout To Meredith, Kornick and the rest of the team for making it happen!!! We appreciate you guys
@Artist I heard it was Tupac!!!!!!!
@Anonymous Please move date back to April 11th!! Holding it on Easter weekend will cause both Christian and Jewish students difficulty to attend!
@vg Oh look we are discriminating against Jews I bet our campus will come together and protest this /sarcasm
@Gold Man Sacks But get ready to pay the TIC processing fees. So not quite free.
@akonlover69 fuck authority. fuck the system. i love bacchanal!
@Anonymous Not only is it Yom Tov, it’s also the day before Easter meaning that a lot of people in the tri-state area who go home for the weekend have to make a tough choice.
@uh-oh Uh-oh! April 23rd is Take Our Sons and Daughters to Work Day!
Let’s just move the whole thing to May.
@brr Bad move moving the date up… Too cold for the crop top/bro tank wearers at least
@uhhh This is on the second night of Passover….oh great.
@curious I’m not Jewish, so I don’t know the significance of Passover. What’s the problem with this?
@Anonymous The problem is that the performer won’t be Drake
@vg No bread = no beer
@Anonymous Looks like it’s going to be a literal Bacchanal for Jews. Wine only. Maybe rum too but that seems like it could be complicated.
@Does anyone know Does anyone know if alums will be able to attend Bacchanal, now that there is a new ticketing system?
@Does anyone know Sorry, just read that you can register a guest. Will more than one guest be allowed?
@Anonymous assuming its like any other on-campus tic event, as long as you have a cuid you can go get a student ticket
