Bwog Staffwriter, alongside her three other friends, on a whim applied to be a hair model via a posting in the Barnard Works job portal. The staff writer was denied the position, however, her friends were all hired. Here she provides insight on what life as a reject is like…

I wish I could lie and say that I wasn’t disappointed when I was denied the position of a hair model influencer for a small beauty company and my friends were all hired. Of course I was happy and supportive of them– I wish the best for all of my friends and want them all to succeed. I am all about women supporting other women; however, I was hurt to not have been chosen, to have been rejected. I was a clown to believe my curly headed locks could secure me a spot as a fellow influencer…Oh well.

Here is a day in my life:

7:00 am — I wake up to the sound of my marimba alarm disgruntled and fatigued.

7:15 am —  I remember I was rejected as a hair model.

7:30 am — I take a hot shower and apply a hair mask.

7:45 am — I remember I was rejected as a hair model.

8:00 am to 3:00 pm — I have classes. Study in the breaks. Eat breakfast, lunch, and consume copious amounts of coffee.

3:15 pm —  I remember I was rejected as a hair model.

3:30 to 5:00 pm — I study and work.

5:15 pm — I eat dinner.

5:45  to 10:00 pm —  I remember I was rejected as a hair model.

10:00 pm to 7:00 am — I have nightmares about being rejected as a hair model and wake up to realize it’s not a dream.

Repeat.
