It’s nearly Valentine’s Day, there’s literally no better time to shoot your shot.

Dear Marriage Pact Secret Admirers,

Maybe you thought it would be a one-off. Maybe you didn’t think it would really lead to anything. Maybe you weren’t thinking at all when you put in someone else’s email at the very end of the marriage pact survey. You were just so overcome with anxiety and/or romantic visions of a future where you and your crush would go on a zoom date and fall in love that all forethought flew out of your head.

Well, here it is, almost three months later and I can guarantee that those of us that received that mysterious “you have a secret admirer” email are still wondering who on earth it could’ve been.

Let’s get the facts straight: we’re in a pandemic, meeting people is harder than ever. So getting that mysterious email was exciting (or, at the very least, out of the ordinary). True, some of us may be past it by now, but there are also those of us who are just single and ready (but unable) to mingle. And with Valentine’s Day coming up, it just feels even more tragic, to know that there’s a secret admirer out there who hasn’t got the guts to say something.

So what is the purpose of this letter? To tell you now is the time. Don’t be a secret anymore! Reveal yourself to your crush! At worst, it’ll be a funny story to tell your real significant other when you’re older. At best, you’ll become each other’s significant other and can pass on this meet-cute down across generations.

Go on! Find true love! We’re all rooting for you.

Sincerely,

A Bwog staff member who cannot take his own advice.
