There are no more Plimpton singles at Barnard, but Columbia students can always opt for the shafted, six-person Plimpton Hall suite.

Columbia Edition:

Sophomore housing continued today with many students opting to live in McBain. There are still 4 seven-person suites in 47 Claremont for sophomores who wish to live there.

For updates in real-time, check out our live housing Twitter thread. And for those who are still unsure of where to live, check out our 2021 housing reviews.

What’s Gone:

  • All of yesterday’s options still remain, just in lower quantities

What’s Scarce:

  • 3.5 Harmony doubles
  • 4 47 Claremont seven-person suites
  • .5 Nuss doubles
  • 1 shafted Plimpton six-person suite

What’s Left:

Doubles, doubles, doubles.

  • 28.5 in Broadway
  • 14 in Carlton Arms
  • 70.5 in Schapiro
  • 12 in Wien
  • 93 in McBain

Looking Ahead:

There are still 4 seven-person suites up for grabs! But, for the most part, many students will end up with a double. Those with higher numbers can escape the worst of the worst. But, if all else fails, there is always the shafted, six-person Plimpton Hall suite.

Barnard Edition:

Today, juniors, mixed groups, and sophomores picked. As expected, singles are going the fastest with a surprising preference towards Elliot. Historically, Elliot has been viewed as one of the less desirable dorms. Currently, 8 singles remain and all Plimpton singles have been taken.

What’s Gone:

  • Plimpton singles

What’s Scarce:

  • 3 CG doubles
  • 1 Hewitt double
  • 6 620 doubles
  • 6 616 doubles
  • 1 Elliot single

What’s Left:

  • 7 Hewitt singles
  • 14 Elliot doubles
  • 9 Sulz Tower doubles
  • 18 110 doubles
  • 17 600 doubles
  • 10 Plimpton doubles

Looking Ahead:

Sophomores will continue picking their housing tomorrow. Singles will likely be picked first, with only doubles remaining. Once singles have been taken up, any student who went in as an individual will have to go to the Guaranteed List for housing.
