Second is the first to lose, said Abby Lee Miller once.

Happening in the World: The world’s biggest container ship has arrived in the UK as it continues on its maiden voyage. The Ever Ace, which has room for 200,000 metric tons of cargo, is sister to the Ever Given, which became memorably trapped in the Suez Canal for nearly a week, causing major disruptions to global shipping last March (Insider).

Happening in the US: It’s that time of year again. The U.S. News & World Report’s Best College rankings were released on Monday. Princeton University maintained its spot as the highest-ranked university in the country, following a three-way tie between Columbia, MIT, and Harvard (CNBC).

Happening in NYC: Starting Monday, New York City officials have begun enforcing the vaccine mandate, coinciding with the opening of the city’s public schools and Broadway. This “Key to NYC” mandate requires workers and patrons to provide proof of at least partial vaccination to go indoors at restaurants, museums, gyms, and other entertainment venues (NY Times).

Happening in Our Community: You’ve heard of speed dating – now, prepare yourselves for speed friending, brought to you by the University Life Events Council. Tonight, pull up for an evening of networking, snacks, and the possibility of meeting your new best friend at 6:00 PM EST in Ancell Plaza, located on East Campus. RSVP is recommended, but not required. Don’t forget your CUID!

Study Snack of the Day: I tried a marshmallow-chocolate-cookie thing called a “Whippet” the other day because it was the first thing I saw when I walked into Morton Williams. Similar to Mallomars, they have a light flavor and a fun, fluffy texture. Apparently, a “Whippet” is also a very swift breed of medium-size dog.
