Good morning, all you ‘24 and ‘25 movie stars. It’s movie night tonight, and what better way to get to know a potential friend’s soul than watching the film Soul? Grab some popcorn and your roommate, and head over to the Lerner Cinema for an unforgettable NSOP night.

See something wild? Overhear something particularly wacky during NSOP? Tell us, by submitting a tip to tips@bwog.com or via the form on our website.

Today’s Highlights:

  • LGBTQ+ and Allies Mixer | Lerner B60 from 1:30 to 2:30 pm: Connect with new and returning students to discuss life at Columbia and learn about existing resources on campus.
  • Shabbat Dinner | Ancell Tent, East Campus from 6:30 to 10 pm: Attend the first free Shabbat dinner of the semester while meeting new friends! Selecting a specific meal time to attend is strongly recommended, so check out the RSVP details here.
  • Movie Night: Soul | Lerner Cinema, Floor 3 from 6 to 8 pm and 8-10 pm: Crying to a Pixar film on a warm summer night with your friends is a perfect way to kickoff NSOP weekend. Please note that there will be two showings of the film due to a capacity limit, so registration is required here.

One Thing To Do Before Graduating: Plan a book picnic with your friends at the park! Books, food, friends, and nature make for an excellent outing.

From The Archives: Whether you’re coming to the big city from a small town, or hoping to walk down a crowded street while uplifting background music plays, you’re undoubtedly starring in the movie of your life. Check out Greta Gerwig’s (BC’06) Senior Wisdom if you want any “director’s notes” for making the most out of the Columbia experience. Remember, you are the main character—don’t let anyone tell you different!
