Happening in the World: On Sunday, the Taliban released new guidelines banning women from appearing in television dramas. In addition to this rule, the Taliban also announced seven others that aim to promote “traditional” Islamic values of Sharia law. Some of these include the banning of shows that insult religion and the banning of shows where intimate male body parts are exposed. Many Afghans fear that these new laws are the first of many severe restrictions to come (BBC).

Happening in the US: Five are dead and over 40 are injured after a car plowed into a holiday parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin. The parade, which was supposed to feature musical performances and speeches, was cut short around 4:40 pm when a red SUV entered the parade route and began striking people down. The local police stated that a person of interest was in custody (NYT).
